Doris Russi Schurter graduated in 1980 with a degree in law from the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) and received the admittance to the bar in 1982. After different traineeships in New York and Washington DC she worked from 1983 until 1991 in various leading positions at Fides Fiduciary Company in Basel and in Lucerne. From 1992 until 2005 she was a partner at KPMG, Switzerland. From 1994 until 2005 she acted as an office-managing-partner of KPMG, Lucerne. In 2005 she took up her activities as a lawyer in the law firm of Burger & Müller, Lucerne and as an independent board member at various companies. Today she is of counsel at ADLEGEM Attorneys at Law in Lucerne.

Doris Russi Schurter has long-standing experience as an independent director on the board of several stock-listed companies in the financial and insurance area as well as in foundations and associations. Her core competences as a lawyer are in contract-, company- and commercial law as well as in estate planning of companies and individuals on a national and international level.
Doris Russi Schurter is a member of the board of directors of Swiss International Airlines, Basel, chairwoman of the foundation-board of the pension plan of Schurter AG, member of the board of Student Mentor Foundation Lucerne and chairwoman of the Association of Swiss Companies in Germany VSUD. Until April 2021, she acted as chairwoman on the board of directors at Lucerne Kantonalbank, Lucerne and until April 2022 she was chairwoman of the board of directors at Helvetia Insurances, St. Gallen.
